Press release - Lux Prize: MEPs to choose among finalist films - Committee on Culture and Education

The three finalist films competing for the 2014 Lux Prize will be screened at the European Parliament from 1 to 12 December. The films will also be shown at the Brussels fine arts centre BOZAR on 2 and 3 December, in the presence of their directors. The final three films competing for the prize this year are Class Enemy (Razredni sovražnik), by Rok Biček (Slovenia), Bande de filles, by Céline Sciamma (France) and Ida, by Paweł Pawlikowski (Poland/ Denmark)

Press release - Charlemagne prize 2015 to be awarded to EP President Martin Schulz on Thursday

General : EP President Martin Schulz will be awarded the 57th International Charlemagne Prize at a ceremony on Thursday 14 May in Aachen. The prize goes to Mr Schulz for his work to promote democracy, not least by making the European Parliament more visible, audible and understandable, and for his role in the "Spitzenkandidaten" process ahead of the 2014 European elections.

Press release - Lux Prize: 10 years of film enlightenment - Committee on Culture and Education

Europe should continue to support film creation and distribution as important tools for our cultural diversity, MEPs and filmmakers underlined on Monday evening in a Lux Prize 10th anniversary debate. Translation and subtitling help to circulate works and promote European values, especially in time of crisis, they added. Film directors Ken Loach, Céline Sciamma and Andrea Segre participated in a very animated debate with Members of the Culture Committee on this occasion.
